Obituary of Patricia Housman

Patricia A. Housman, age 78, of Corning, passed away on Thursday September 6, 2018 at home surrounded by her family.  She was born on April 17, 1940 in Corning, the daughter of Herbert and Winifred McIntyre Wheeler.  She married William C. Housman on April 24, 1976 at Christ Episcopal Church.  He predeceased her on April 10, 2016

Pat cherished all time spent with family and friends.  Selfless; always putting others needs above her own; she was generous, kind, loving and full of grace.  She cherished every moment with her two grandsons, spoiling them with love and affection.  She was a family oriented person who opened her home to everyone she met, including those with four legs and covered in fur!

She retired from Corning Inc. in 1998 following 39 years of service as an Executive Assistant. The ladies retiree’s luncheons were one of her favorite events to attend; often turning into hours of laughter and memories.

She is survived by her daughter, Christina Haussener of Corning, special niece, Barbara Gannon of TN, grandsons, Brayden and Gavin Haussener, brother, John Thomas Stirrup, sister, Joyce Turner, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Thomas Brownell, sister-in-law, Eleanor Housman, and her God Daughter, Rebecca Cusack.

Pat was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Judy Stirrup and brother-in-law, Donald Turner.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Pat's Life on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Carpenter's Funeral Home 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning.  Burial will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery with a light dinner following at Marconi Lodge.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to the American Cancer Society (Hope Lodge; 1120 Goodman Street South, Rochester, NY 14620) or to one's local SPCA or Humane Society.
