Robert D. “Bob” Kolp, age 70, of Painted Post, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Bath VA Medical Center, Bath, NY.
Bob was born on December 21, 1947 in Corning, NY, the son of the late Daniel C. and the late Lillian J. (Benson) Kolp. He was a graduate of Corning East High School. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Army. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, serving in the 101st Airborne, earning the Purple Heart among many other medals. After returning from war, Bob began working for Corning Glass Works as a tank operator, recently receiving his 50 year pin.
He is survived by his brother, Daniel Kolp; sisters: Glenna Pischal, Helen (Chip) Mosher; and several nieces and nephews and one great nephew.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a sister, Deetra Kolp and brother, Francis Kolp.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with full military honors on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY. Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements.
