William J. “Bill” Crane, Jr., age 54, of Corning, NY passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Corning Hospital surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on November 6, 1963 in Corning, NY, the son of William J. Crane Sr. and Janis J. Pietro. He was a graduate of Corning East High School, class of 1982 and later attended trade school to become a Draftsman. He worked as an independent contractor for 35 years.
In his younger years, Bill enjoyed swimming in Post Creek and climbing Rattlesnake Hill. Bill will be remembered for being a master craftsman - he could turn a piece of wood into a work of art. He spent a great deal of his time at his “second home” on Seneca Lake with his sister, Lynn. They also enjoyed going to Notre Dame Football games together. He traveled much of the country on his bike – including visiting Gettysburg and Key West. In his free time, he loved spending time with his friends at the Marconi Lodge and having heated conversations about politics. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Billy had special relationships with all his siblings, especially a deep connection with his twin sister Beth, along with his mother and father.
He is survived by parents: William J. Crane, Sr. of Painted Post, NY and Janis J. Pietro of Corning, NY; siblings: Neil Pietro of Corning, NY, Tracey Loid of Corning, NY, Lynn Crane of Rochester, NY and twin sister, Beth Waters of Virginia Beach, VA; special nephew, Dylan DelConte of Rochester, NY; and many other nieces, nephews and aunts.
Bill was predeceased by his step-mother, Doreen Crane, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
It was Bill’s wish that there be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning, NY.
