Obituary of James Meyers

James “Jimmy” Meyers, age 74, of Addison, NY passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at home surrounded by loved ones.  Jim was born in Cameron, NY on April 14, 1944 to Fredrick and Elsie (Reynolds) Meyers.

Jimmy was a lifelong resident of the Cameron and Addison communities.  He married Mary “Tompkins” Kemp in 1973 and began a career with the Addison Central School District as the Groundskeeper retiring in 2010 with 37 years of service.  Due to his hard work and dedication to the beautification of the school grounds, the school district recognized him by dedicating the soccer field to him in 1984.  Jimmy had the ability and care to keep both the soccer and baseball fields in pristine condition.

Jimmy was a familiar and friendly face around Addison.  His countless acts of selflessness, helping others in the community, will not soon be forgotten.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as golfing in numerous tournaments.  One of his greatest joys as everyone knows was his kids and piles of grandchildren.

He is survived by three children: Robin (Lewis) Knapp of Addison, Linda Gee (Ernie Gaboriault) of Addison, John (Robin) Kemp of Bath; three granddaughters: Jessica Crane, Marisa Crane, Felicia Gee; several great grandchildren; five siblings: Fritz (Elaine) Meyers of Big Flats, Mickey (Virginia) Meyers of Big Flats, Bert (Rosie) Meyers of Elkland, Katie (Ken) Anderson of CA, Neva (Bob) Tosh of OH; sister in law: Norma Meyers of Addison; and a large extended family.

Along with his parents he was predeceased by his wife: Mary; daughter: Lori Crane; siblings: Chuck Meyers, Burdette Meyers, Freda Brady, Marie Cope, and Carl Meyers.

Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter-Flint Funeral Home, 10 Wall St. Addison, NY on Friday, June 15, 2018 form 11:00am-2:00pm and 4:00pm-7:00pm.  A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00am with Fr.
