Marsha Ann Corso, age 74, of South Maple Street, Corning, NY passed away at home on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Marsha was born to Robert M. Eckelberger, esq, and Eunice V. Van Atta on November 4, 1943 in Spokane, Washington. After 2 years, her parents moved across country to Johnson City, NY where she resided until graduating from J.C. High School. She then attended and graduated from Potsdam State. Marsha then came to Corning and has been here ever since.
Her first job was that of a substitute teacher in the Addison School District. Then she found her true calling by landing a job at Corning Bowl. She was contracted to direct the CGW Junior Bowling Program, which she aided for 20 years. After the flood she went to Crystal Lanes and co-managed for over 12 years. She also helped reorganized the Women's 600 Club, and organize the Corning Bowling Council. In 1988 she was elected to the Corning Painted Post Sports Hall of Fame.
She came to Corning married to Robert L. Skinner and in 1977 she married Frederick T. Corso, Sr. He preceded her in death in 2011 after 31 years of marriage.
She is survived by her two sons: Robert M. ( Shannon Pilkington) Skinner of Corning, NY and Michael R. (Bob Kilts) Skinner of Richford, NY; aunt: Elinor Van Atta of Johnson City, cousin: Barbara (Allan) Krongold of Endicott, NY and second cousin, their son , Franklin; 4 grandchildren: Kyra , Madison, Taylor and RJ, 6 step grandchildren: Stephanie, Ryan, Zachary, Tom, Jacob, Hannah.
Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St. Corning, NY on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 2:00pm-4:00pm, with a funeral service to immediately follow. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
