Obituary of Rita Cuda
Rita A. (Fortino) Cuda, age 83, of Corning, NY passed away suddenly on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
Rita was born on November 8, 1934 in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late Bruno and Bessie (Dellisanti) Fortino. She worked for Cuda's Mini Market.
Rita was a member of All Saints Parish, Catholic Women's Club and The Marconi Lodge. Music was a major part of Rita's life. She was an accomplished pianist and shared her talent wherever a piano could be found. She also enjoyed puzzles and games, especially playing Scrabble with visiting family. She was a loving mother, nonna and friend to all and enjoyed every opportunity to spend with her family.
She is survived by former husband, Joseph P. Cuda of Corning; children: Steve Cuda of Corning, Ann Cuda-McMurray of Corning, Carmine Cuda of Springfield, Va., Cathy Denissoff of Norton, OH, JoAnne Cuda of Columbus, OH and Jeanie Cuda (Debbie Mansfield) of Fairlawn, OH. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and cousins in NY and Ontario, Canada.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by son, Fedele Cuda; stepmother, Mary Fortino; and step-siblings: Raphael Tombasco and Sabatina Carozzoni.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 222 Dodge Ave., Corning, NY, with Father Lewis Brown officiating. Committal prayers will immediately follow in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita's name may be made to Corning Meals on Wheels, 144 Cedar St., Corning, NY 14830 or Corning Centers for Care, 205 E. 1st Street, Corning, NY 14830.
