Obituary of Edgar Doane

Edgar A. Doane, age 68, of Painted Post passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at Corning Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Ed was born December 23, 1937 in Blossburg, PA the son of the late Edgar Allen and Ruth (Ball) Doane. On October 19, 1964, he married Barbara Courtright in Addison, New York.

He proudly served in the US Army and was self employed as a Property Owner and Manager for the several properties he owned and also was a union House painter for many years.

Ed was a mild mannered, kind hearted, and loving husband, father, and grandfather who was a true family man. He prided himself on being his familys great protector and soothing any of lifes obstacles for them. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, and listening to music, especially the old country. He also enjoyed woodworking / furniture making. He really enjoyed the 3 1/2 years extended vacation he and his wife spent in their vacation home in Arkansas.

He is survived by loving wife, Barbara Doane; children, James (Beth) Doane of Coopers Plains and Cathy (Brian) Rogerson of Saratoga Springs; grandchildren, David, Daren, Daniel, and the future Dylan and Lennon; brothers, Robert, Terry, and Ronald; sisters, Sylvia, Beatrice, Cora, Deah, Dina, and Sherry; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother, George Doane

Eds family will receive friends on Saturday, January 7, 2006 from 4 until 6 pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY.

His Funeral Service will be Sunday at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Jay LaScolea officiating.

Burial will be in Chapel Knoll Cemetery.
