Obituary of Elizabeth Cole
Elizabeth T. Cole age 88, of Kingsbury Avenue in Corning died Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at The Waters of Three Rivers in Painted Post after an extended illness.
Betty was born in Bath, NY on July 25, 1916, to William and Inez (Higby) Thompson. She was the wife of Lt.Howard Cole who preceded her in death in 2001. Betty graduated from Alfred University with honors. She worked for Corning Glass Works in the accounting department for several years, and had been an English and French substitute teacher for the Corning-Painted Post School District. She had been a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Yankee fan, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting and making beautiful afghans andbaking for her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Ralph (Nancy) Cole of Corning and Thomas (Vicky) Cole of Greeneville, TN; grandsons, Terry (Joy) Cole of Bogota, Colombia, Jeff (Chimene) Cole of Ithaca, NY, and Matt (Lisa) Cole of Nashville, TN; a granddaughter, Georgia (Michael) Jones of Nashville, TN; great grandchildren, Rachel, Nicholas, Dominic, Nathan, Annalise, Lauren, Ava, and Gabriel; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call today, Saturday June 25, 2005 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning, where funeral services will follow at 10:30 AM with Reverend Carol Keller officiating. Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery.
