Obituary of Robert Wexell
Robert A. Wexell age 73, formerly of Corning and Keuka Lake, died Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the Arnot Odgen Medical Center in Elmira.
Bob was born in Corning, NY on February 18, 1931, the son of Arthur and the late Eva (Bachman) Wexell. He was a graduate of Northside High School, and in 1953, Bob rescued his sister when the family home was engulfed with fire in the middle of the night. He had served his country in the United States Navy from 1955-1957. Bob completed the four year machinist apprentice training program with Corning Glass Works in 1955, retired as General Manager of the General Machine Shop, and was recently recognized for 55 years of service with the company. He was an avid golfer, and loved fishing, hunting, bowling, and photography. He was a member of Corning Lodge of Elks No. 1071.
He is survived by his children, Dora, Juli, and Donald Wexell; his father, Arthur Wexell of Elmira; one sister, Priscilla (Clifton) Smith; one brother, Gene (Leah) Wexell; grandchildren, Arthur Wex Wexell, Alyssa Summey, and Nickolas Navarro; four nieces and nephews; 12 great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday January 28, 2005 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Corning, where funeral services will be held following calling hours at 11:00 AM with Reverend Carol Keller officiating. Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery.
