Obituary of Mary Smith
CORNING - Mary C. Smith, age 80, formerly of North Franklin Street in Corning died Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at the Waters of Three Rivers in Painted Post.
She was born on January 28, 1924 in Corning, the daughter of the late Elmer and Dudlie (Frankle) Barnes. Mary married Marion Smith in 1941 and was preceded in death by him in 1989, and was preceded in death by two brothers; William Barnes and Thomas Barnes, and by a sister; Fannie Bliss. She had been active with the Corning Salvation Army, had been a sales clerk at Noahs Ark, and had worked for Corning Glass Works during World War II. Mary enjoyed crafting, gardening, cooking, and sewing.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lynda Smith of Dallas, TX, and Elaine (George) Bonham of Beaver Dams; one son, Gerald (Darlene) Smith of Copperas Cove, TX, two sisters: Norma Turner of Corning, and Lorraine Tuttle of Corning; one brother, Melvin Barnes of Corning, several nieces and nephews; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Saturday, January 15, 2005 from 2 until 4 PM at the Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street, Corning where funeral services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 4:00 PM with Captain John Merchant officiating. Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery.
