Rose A. Puccio

Rose A Puccio, 88 of Corning, NY, passed away suddenly in Elmira at Arnot Ogden Medical Center on January 26, 2019, surrounded by loved ones.  Her abundant energy for life and laughter made her a friend to all who knew her.

She was born March 20, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, to immigrant parents, the late Orazio and Virginia Briguglio. On June 20, 1953, she married the love of her life, Rocco F. Puccio.  She moved to Corning, NY, where she would happily remain for the rest of her life.

Together the couple raised and are survived by three devoted children; Frank (Lisa) Puccio of Wilder, Idaho, James (Cynthia) Puccio of Beaver Dams, NY, and Carissa (Eric) Sitterly of Mars, PA.

She was so very proud of her grandchildren and nothing made her happier than spending time with them playing cards, taking them on outings, or just sitting around reminiscing. She will be fondly remembered by Derek (Ali) Sitterly of Grand Rapids, MI, Audra (Mike) Werb of Pittsburgh PA, and Dylan Sitterly of Mars, PA.

She had many nieces and nephews and was a loving referred to "Aunt Rosie."  She loved entertaining in their beautiful home.  She was an excellent cook and there was always something wonderful that was homemade with love in the fridge.

Over the years she volunteered at the Food Pantry and the Corning Hospital, in addition to being a docent at Corning Museum of Glass.

Rose and her husband spent many years wintering in Myrtle Beach with great friends.  She enjoyed her weekly card club that she participated in for many years.  She was a devout Catholic and eagerly awaited the chance to reunite with her dear departed loved ones in Heaven.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Rocco, her brother Salvatore (Vicky) Briguglio, brother- in-law Carmen P. Puccio, and nephew John C. Puccio.

Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning on Friday February 1, 2019, from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at St. Mary's Church 155 State Street, Corning at 1 p.m. Interment will take place immediately following at St. Mary's Mausoleum.
