Barbara Klimek Peck of Queensbury, NY, formerly of Campbell, NY, passed away peacefully December 26th, after a valiant and fierce battle with cancer. She fought the disease with all her considerable strength and determination, inspiring all around her. Barb was born in Williamsport, PA, the daughter of Lester and Imogene Klimek. She attended Williamsport area schools, and was a graduate of Elmira College, earning her Bachelors Degree. In December of 1967 she married the love of her life, Gary, in Williamsport. Barb was a retired IT PMO Manager for Corning Incorporated, with 32 years of service. She was President and served as Project Manager of Consulting Associates, Inc for 15 years.
She is survived by her beloved daughters Sarah Peck Christensen (Dave) of Saratoga Springs, NY and Amanda Peck, of Tallahassee, FL. Also surviving are siblings David Klimek (Mary Ann), Sandra Hurne, and Monica Burnette (Ron). Barb was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Gary Peck, and parents Lester and Imogene Klimek.
To say that Barb had an enormous number of friends would be a tremendous understatement. She never met a stranger. Her kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness endeared her to everyone from her many colleagues throughout the years at Corning Inc and her own Consulting Associates business, her partners and mentees in the Future Business Leaders of America Association, to the doctors, nurses, and staff at University of Rochester Medical Center and Glens Falls Hospitals’ C.R. Wood Cancer Center. In addition to her years of support and mentorship of project managers at Corning, she was a talented and creative artist in fields including cooking, jewelry making and polymer clay. No one of her acquaintance experienced a wedding or special event without a special hand-made gift. Barb lived for her family, and enjoyed nothing more than planning family vacations from the Finger Lakes to North Carolina beaches, where she loved cooking for large groups and had menus planned for weeks before hand. Barb will be terribly missed, but forever remembered with gratitude for the love she shared with so many.
Calling hours for Barb will be held at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning, NY on Thursday, January 3, 2019, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may send memorial donations in Barb’s name to the American Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate/memorial-giving.html.
