Obituary of Marian Bosket

Marian I. Bosket, age 87, of Painted Post, NY passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Guthrie Corning Hospital in Corning, NY. Marian was born February 22, 1930 in Corning, NY to Anthony J. and Helen A. (Crisco) Golden. She married Harold R. Bosket on February 23, 1951. She was predeceased by him on July 6, 1994.

Marian worked for Corning Incorporated, Corning, NY in production at various plants throughout the Corning valley with 50 active years. Some of the stories she often shared began when she worked her first job at Main Plant and had to leave her shift early because she was only 16 and had to walk home to the top of Powderhouse Road before the 10pm curfew. Marian worked at the Vycor Plant on Denison Parkway where her children would walk down the hill from Carder School and sit on a concrete stoop. Some of Marian's co-workers brought them popsicles, while they waited for her to finish her shift. She spent many of her working years at the Big Flats Plant. She and her co-workers worked very hard and she laughed about the many pranks they played on one another. Marian loved working there. She worked a few years at the Steuben Plant. When Marian was in her 50's, she moved on to the Transportation Department where she was required to get her Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in order for her to drive the Company Mail Van. She worked in Transportation for 10 years prior to her retirement in 1995, and was the first female driver for Corning. During her employment with Corning, Marian was a Member of the Local 1000 Flint Glass Workers Union as a Trustee.

Marian was a devoted wife and mother. She loved the holidays and made many wonderful memories for her children and grandchildren, especially baking her famous Christmas Cookies. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was an outstanding cook and loved going to the Casinos. Marian was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 524 Ladies Auxiliary in Corning and spent countless hours working at the Post and the Bath VA helping our Veterans. Marian volunteered her time for several years at the Red Cross Blood Drives, as well.

She is survived by her sons: Charlie (Teresa) Bosket of Corning, NY; David Bosket of Painted Post, NY and her daughters: Debbie (Byron Lewis) Keller of Corning, NY and Marylou (Doug Rarrick) Schwartz of Lexington, SC; special niece: Linda (Mike) Rotsell of Painted Post, NY; special nephews: Ken (Wanda) Burlingame of Corning, NY, Bill (Carol) Burlingame of Lawrenceville, PA; grandchildren: Stephen Bosket, Michael Bosket, Carey Maurice-Hall, Jason Bosket, Brian Keller, Scott Keller, David Keller, several great-grandchildren; special sister: Dawn Mead of Springfield, MO, sister-in-law: Juanita Golden of Painted Post, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.
