Lorraine E. "Peggy" Van Marter, age 81, of Corning, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at home. She was born on February 20, 1936 in Elkland, the daughter of Ernest and Edra F. (Allen) Tubbs.
Lorraine worked as a cook at the Central Restaurant for many years and she was a lifetime member of the Corning VFW Post 524 Ladies Auxiliary and the Penn Yan Moose.
She is survived by her sons, David (Tanya) Tubbs of South Carolina, Dale (Donna) White of California, Paul White of Corning, Tom (Angie) White of Corning, Steven (Barb) White of Massachusetts, step children, Christine White of Richmond, Virginia, Robert (Pat) White of Bath, and Jody White of Rochester, sisters, Betty Springman of Williamsport and Marie Cole of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, brothers, Eric Tubbs of Ohio and Wayne Tubbs of Pennsylvania, 22 grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lorraine was predeceased by her first husband, Dale White in 1973, her second husband, Willis Van Marter in 2011, daughter, Peggy Sue Salesky, son, Donald White, sister, Wanita Felix, and brothers, Richard Tubbs and Leon Tubbs.
It was Lorraine's wish that there be no services.
