Ruth Marion Ballinger, age 84, of McNutt Run Road in Campbell died Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Arnot Odgen Medical Center in Elmira.
Ruth was born on April 17, 1921 in Harford Mills, NY to Jesse and Grace (Lewis) Cortright. She married Virgil Ballinger in 1937, and was preceded in death by him in 1976. She attended the Horseheads Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters: Carol (Douglas) Kellogg of Beaver Dams andDorothy (Peter) Costa of Colorado Springs, CO; two sons, Richard Ballinger of Campbell and Gary (Carole) Ballinger of Corning; one sister, Louise Deats of Fishers, NY; a sister-in-law, Pearl Cortright of Elmira; 7 grandchildren, Diane Strawser, Gregory Strawser, Linda Tokar, Kimberly (Ronald) Mullikin, Deborah (Dana) Tyler, Teri (Timothy) Bagley, and Cynthia Woolever; 10 great grandchildren, Destinae Tyler, Ashley Tyler, Bret McIlwain, Andrew McIlwain, Christopher Mullikin, Emily Mullikin, Jason Mullikin, Leslee Mullikin, Austin Tokar, Morgan Tokar, Ryan and Lindsay Bagley; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Charles Ballinger, and by 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00AM with Reverend Stephan Connors officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Knoll Cemetery in Painted Post.
