Ralph V. Solomon, Sr. age 86, of Beaver Dams went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 28, 2005 at Elcor Health Services in Horseheads.
He was born in Mattawan, MI on March 9, 1919, and was a graduate of Western Michigan College. Ralph was a veteran, serving as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed for 34 years as a production schedule clerk at Ingersoll-Rand, Painted Post. Ralph was an active member of the Beaver Dams United Methodist Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Lyda (Hagamon) Solomon Cowles, wives, Lucy Mckerrow, and Grace Thomas; sisters, Marion Solomon; and a grandson Dale Sears.
He is survived by his son, Ralph (Mary) Solomon, Jr. of Watkins Glen; two daughters, Jackie (Gary) VanAlstine of Campbell and Debra (Tim) Daugherty of Millport; step daughters, Sandra Sears of Odessa and Debra Doane of Beaver Dams; step son, Charles Doane of Watkins Glen; grandchildren, Gary VanAlstine of Campbell, Brenda (Lac) Do of Ohio, Jessica Daugherty of Millport, Bryan Daugherty of Millport; step grandchildren, Pamela (Jim) Wolfe of Cayuta, Steven (Joanne) Sears of Montour Falls, Adam (Casey) Doane Watkins Glen, Anthony Doane of Watkins Glen, Kali Doane of Watkins Glen; four great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; two sisters: Virginia (Harry) Cairns of Michigan and Maxine Solomon of Florida.
Calling hours will be Thursday, November 3, 2005 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning. A Celebration of Ralphs Life will be on Saturday November 5, 2005 at 10:30AM at the Beaver Dams United Methodist Church with Reverend Grant T. Nicholls officiating. Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery, Painted Post.
