Robert Henry Sproule, age 82, of Corning passed away peacefully Saturday, September 17, 2005 at home with his family. Mr. Sproule was born in Corning on October 1, 1922, the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Rankin) Sproule. Robert attended Corning Free Academy. In 1953 he married Beverly Jean Prutsman in Corning and was predeceased by her in 1971.
Robert served his country proudly during WWII in the Army. He was employed by Corning Glass Works for 32 years as a Driver before retiring in 1982. After his retirement he received his 50 year pin from Corning Glass Works. In his spare time he was a member of NRA, was an avid deer hunter, and loved to be with his family.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sylvia Sproule Bierwiler of Himrod, NY and Pamela (Dale) Sproule Dykhuizen of Surf City, NC; one son, Robert Russell Sproule of Hammondsport, NY; longtime companion, Nana Ellis of Englewood, FL; one sister, Rachel Church of Phoenix, AZ; Eight grandchildren; Five great grandchildren; and Fifteen nieces and nephews.
Robert was predeceased by his daughter, Laurie Sproule Carey, brothers, Thomas Sproule and Isaac Sproule, and sisters, Mary Olson and Margaret Schneckenberger.
Roberts family will receive friends on Thursday, September 22, 2005 from 4 until 6pm at the Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street Corning where his funeral service will follow at 6:00pm. Interment private.
