Louis W. Cassidy age 80, of First Street in Corning, NY died Friday, September 16, 2005 in Corning. Louis was born in Owego, NY on May 1, 1925 to Wayne and Myra (Oakden) Cassidy. He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude Snearly. Louis served his country during World War II in the Armys 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. As a graduate of Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland, he had been a physical Education teacher at Corning Free Academy. He is survived by his three daughters, Susan (Joseph Skelsey) Cassidy of Fairfax, VA, Patricia (Ralph) Ruocco of Dover, NH, and Jane (Eric) Price of Eldersburg, MD; one son, Christopher (Sara) Cassidy of Edgewater, CO; two sisters, Hollis (Robert) Jones of Coopers Plains and Helen (James) Cooper of Arizona; grandchildren, William and Katherine Skelsey, Devin, Caitlin, and Cassidy Ruocco, Garratt and Haley Price; a brother-in-law, Gordon Forbes; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Louis was predeceased by son, Michael Cassidy, and a sister, June Forbes. Calling hours will be held this Sunday from 4 until 7pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning where Funeral Services will be on Monday at 11:00 am. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning, NY.
