Coly Colon Thompson, age 57, of Roberts Avenue, Corning passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Corning Hospital.
Coly was born October 23, 1947 at Corning, NY the son of the late Colon Alabam and Mary (Clarke) Thompson. He graduated from Campbell Central School in 1965. Coly married Cevel Calkins April 8, 1973 at Woodhull Baptist Church.
Coly worked faithfully at Corning Building Company for 31 years. He loved to help people and was an electrical genius. He was a perfectionist with everything he did. In his spare time, he enjoyed black and white movies, taking photos and home movies, restoring old guitars and radios, puttering around his garage, and watching Popeye with his grandson, Devin. Over the years he was also in many local bands playing all sorts of music from country to 50s and 60s rock and roll. He was the smartest man youll ever know and will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors on the hill.
He is survived by his wife, Cevel Thompson; daughter, Dena (Chris) Clark of Corning; grandson, Devin Clark of Corning; sister, Roberta (Wally) Shaut of Bath; brother, William Bill Thompson of Elmira.
He was predeceased by his step brothers, Frederick White and Harry Winnie, step sister, Ramona Winnie
Colys family will receive friends on Friday, September 9, 2005 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY where his funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Gary McCaslin officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
