Helena Marie Zinck, 65, of Painted Post went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Guthrie Corning Hospital of Corning, NY surrounded by her loved ones.
Helena was born on March 25, 1952 in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late Norman E. and the late Hilda M. (Tallman) Wood.
Helena was previously predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, David C. Zinck in 2015; a grandson, Shane in 1998; and two brothers: Norman and James Wood.
Helena is survived by her (furably) companion of six years, Daisy; sisters: RuthAnn (Joe) Casper of Florida, Adora Reed of Beaver Valley; her children: Carla Gee of Belfast, David (Elizabeth) Zinck of Millport and Genevieve Zinck of Corning; her grandchildren: Danielle (Travis) Dawley of Baldwinsville, Bryan Zinck of Elmira, Gabrielle Gee of Horseheads, Angelica VanNess of Dansville, David Zinck Jr. of Horseheads, Codilynn and Rocky Zinck of Millport, Rosemary Wilson and Nakita Zinck of Corning, and Desiree (Billy) McFall of Watkins Glen. Helena has five great-grandsons: Daryl McFall, Hunter Dawley, Isaiah and Shane VanNess and Kayden Zinck; one great-granddaughter; Marianna VanNess; several nieces and nephews and a special thank you to Heather and Joshua Hand. Heather started out as an aide for our dad 3 years ago and had gone through everything with our family, they are very special people.
Helena was also a member of the Mennonite Community Church on Park Avenue for several years.
Helena can be remembered for her love of people. She loved and enjoyed helping others. She also took care of several children throughout the years in which one child Helena and David were trying to adopt, Kley Greenfield, as a part of the Zinck family. She will also be remembered for her smile, laugh and spunkiness. She will be deeply missed by all.
A celebration of Helena’s life will be held December 30, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Community Mennonite Church, 290 Park Ave, Corning NY, with burial to follow at Hope Cemetery, Corning, NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning.
