Elwin L. Miller, age 86, of Highland Drive, in Corning, NY died Saturday, September 3, 2005 at The Waters of Three Rivers in Painted Post after an extended illness.
Born on September 15, 1918 in Auburn, NY he was the son of Fred and Mary (Dann) Miller. Elwin served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He had been employed as an engineer for Corning Glass Works for many years, and retired in 1982. He loved to tend his gardens, enjoyed playing and watching golf, and spending time with his family. He was an avid reader and had an amazing memory and a command of facts.
He is survived by his wife sixty six years, Waneta at home, two daughters: Norma Rojas of San Diego, CA and Patricia (Gary) Pease of Corning; one son, David Miller of Liverpool, NY; three sisters, Wanda White of Addison, Florence Butler of Bath, and Eileen Jenks of Emmett, ID; grandchildren, Michael and Brian Blau, Lisa Hinman, Kelly Lanzafame, Brandon Pease, and Jessica Pease; great grandchildren, Shannon, Shelby, Samuel, Eric, and Victoria; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning, where funeral services will follow calling hours at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Addison Rural Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Elwins name to the American Red Cross for disaster relief.
