Adabelle Hudson, age 75, of Wellsboro, PA, formerly of Hornby, NY, died Thursday, August 25, 2005 at the Green Home in Wellsboro, PA. Mrs. Hudson was born October 17, 1929 at Savona, NY, the daughter of the late Bloyd and Grace M. (Chapman) Bates. She married Jack E. Hudson, June 26, 1946. He predeceased her September 26, 1988.
Adabelle was a loving mother and caretaker. She also loved Willie Nelson and was one of his most avid listeners and followers. She was a member of Hornby Volunteer Fire Department, where she was one of the first women fire fighters and drivers. She also served as a troop leader for the Hornby Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Her survivors include: one daughter: Paula (Patrick) Davis of Wellsboro, PA; three sons: John (Jayne) Edward Hudson of Wisconsin, Carl (Karen Sirp) Hudson of Corning, NY, and Timothy (Sherry) Hudson of Beaver Dams, NY; one brother, Orval (Bula) Bates of Lindley, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and her faithful and loving dog Cocco.
Adabelle was predeceased by her daughter Penny Davis, her older sister, two brothers, Leon and Murry and sister, Mary Helen.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday from 1 until 4 pm at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY, where the funeral will follow at 4:00 pm with Pastor Grant Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.
