Robert E. Corey age 81, of Campbell, NY died Sunday, July 24, 2005 at the Arnot Odgen Medical Center in Elmira, NY.
Born in Corning, NY on September 13, 1923, he was the son of Joseph and Jane (Gibson) Corey. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps. He retired from Ingersoll Rand in 1985, and was a member of the Campbell United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and trustee. He was a member of the Robert N. Austin Post of the American Legion and a past member of Bath Elks, Campbell Lions Club and Campbell Fire Department. Robert enjoyed basketball, bowling, and baseball. He also loved to read and travel.
Robert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley of Campbell, two daughters, Kathleen Denning of Rochester and Janet (William) Mishook of Bath; grandchildren, Kimberly Denning, Ryan Denning and fianc Seana Hughes of Rochester, Lyndsay (Bryan) Wolfe of Bath, Michael Mishook and fianc Tuesday Kastner of Painted Post; three great grandsons, Matthew, Elijah, & Zachary of Rochester ; three brothers, Joseph (Margaret) Corey, Douglas Corey, and Jack (Eleanor) Corey; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Loomis and Janice Pruden; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Beverly) Pruden, Leonard (Lois) Pruden, Donald (Harriet) Pruden, Louis (Suzy) Pruden; 32 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Barbara Corey and brothers-in-law Duane Loomis and Gerald Pruden.
Calling hours will be held today, Tuesday July 26, 2005 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning, where funeral services will be on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Betty Bement officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Campbell, NY.
