Joseph M. Crane, age 63, of Addison, NY passed away at home on Thursday, October 19, 2017 with his loving wife by his side. Joseph was born June 9, 1954 in Bath, NY to T. Joseph and Ruth (Campbell) Crane. He married Cynthia Crane on October 6, 1973.
Joe graduated from Addison High School in 1973 and also from BOCES as an auto mechanic while working with Jones Pontiac in Corning. He then began his 33 year career with the Corning Painted Post School District, Corning, NY as a mechanic.
Joseph was a talented and enthusiastic mechanic. He was proud of his 1970 GTO that he had built along with several drag cars and countless drag car engines. Joe was also an accomplished square dancer, especially with his sister, Tonia. He also enjoyed hunting which he shared with his late father in law, Gordon Hannan. Joseph will be remembered as an outstanding person, who took pride in helping others.
He is survived by his wife: Cynthia Crane of Addison, daughter: Jennifer Crane of Wayland; brother: John (Bobbi) Crane of Pulteney, NY; sisters: Tonia Crane of Elmira, NY, JoAnn (Lauren) Taylor of Cameron Mills, NY, Jean (Ted) Dieter of Cameron; special first cousin: Greg (Sandy) Hoad of Bath, NY; brother in law: Lynn (Glenda) Hannan of Campbell, NY; sister in law: Sharon (Jim) Stewart of Addison, along with several nieces , nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, T. Joseph and Ruth (Campbell) Crane and his father and mother in law: Gordon and Evelyn Hannan.
Memorial donations can be directed in memory of Joseph to the Finger Lakes SPCA, 72 Cameron St., Bath, NY 14810 or to a charity of one's choice.
Cynthia would like to offer a special thank you to CareFirst for their attentive care in Joseph's final days.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at Addison Rural Cemetery, Addison, NY on Monday, October 23 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Troy Preston officiating.
