Thomas M. Van Ness age 80, of Village Square in Painted Post, NY went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Bath V. A. Medical Center.
Tom was born in Charleston, PA on July 11, 1924, to Manley and Ada (Reese) Van Ness. He worked on his fathers farm after serving in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked for Corning Glass Works for a few years, then attended barber school and dental mechanics school to make dentures and bridges. He married Donna Yessa in Wellsboro in 1950, then moved to Corning and worked in the Big Flats Plant and retired in 1986 where he had been a Lampworker Specialist. Tom loved working with wood, and was a member of North Baptist Church in Corning, and had been a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and the Director of Visitation.
He is survived by his wife Donna at home, one daughter: Cheryl (Rev. Ronald) Hagy of Corning;
two sons, Dale (Joanne) Van Ness of Coatesville, PA and Robin (Marilyn) Van Ness of Westminster, MD; one sister, Betty Davis; two brothers: Vernon (Jessie) Van Ness and Arland (Patricia) Van Ness, all of Wellsboro, PA; a brother-in-law, John (Sharon) Yessa of Orchard Park, NY; 9 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Toms life will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2005 at 3:00 PM in North Baptist Church, 127 Sly Avenue, Corning. Burial will be in Wellsboro Cemetery, Wellsboro, PA. on
