Christine Wheeler age 78, of South Street in Addison, NY died Monday, May 30, 2005 at Corning Hospital after an extended illness.
Christine was born in Monroe, Maine on November 8, 1926, to Cyrus and Daisey (Arbuckle) Hamm. She married Ivan Wheeler in Belfast Maine in 1942 and was preceded in death by him in 1996. She had been employed by North American Phillips in Bath as a welder. She loved to play bingo, and enjoyed collecting Elvis memoralbilia, traveling, family get-togethers, and playing cards.
She is survived by six daughters: Christina (William) Arthur of Cape Coral, FL, Patricia (Eugene) Buman of Lindley, Norma (Duane) Bakeman of Lindley, Cecilia (Stuart) Garratt of Addison, Melissa (Steve) Snyder of Lindley, and Angela (Truman) Robbins of Addison; four sons, Ivan (Elsie) Wheeler of Lindley, Sherman (Donna) Wheeler of Cameron, Wayne (Penny) Wheeler of Johnson City, and Thomas (Eileen) Wheeler of Spencer; five sisters, Jeanne Howard of Searsport, MA, Kathleen Smith of East Windsor, CT, Carlene (Nicholas) Cerrano of Newhaven, CT, Dorothy Dyer of Belfast, MA, Ethel Beverage of New Haven, CT; three brothers, Raymond (Virginia) Hamm of Norwood, Mass., William (Florence) Hamm of Exiton, MA, and Walter (Ruth) Hamm of Searsport, MA, 37 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Christine was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Wordell, Cecilia Small, Muriel Schiappi, and by three brothers Cyrus, John, and Carl Hamm.
Friends may call today, Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning from 6 until 9 PM where her funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM with Reverend Lonny DeWalt officiating. Burial will be in Presho Cemetery.
