Mary A. Gottshall, age 82, of Seneca St., Corning went to be with her Lord after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers on May 16, 2005 in Elmira, NY. Although she didnt remember her family or friends, she never forgot Jesus or her love for Him.
Mrs. Gottshall was born September 5, 1922 at Dunmore, PA the daughter of the late Antonio and Angela (Telesco) Mecca. She married Maurice Mecca, July 2, 1944. He predeceased her 1973.
Mary was a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn in Horseheads prior to her retirement in 1985. She loved going to yard sales, music and dancing. She especially enjoyed being with her beloved children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Jean (Gregory) Ayers and Tom Gottshall of Corning, and Angela (Bill) McCauley of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Emily Ayers, Julie McCauley, and Maureen McCauley; sister, Margaret Herko of Elmira; several nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends on Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning where her funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM with Pastor John Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
