James Delos Carpenter, age 79 went to be with his Lord and beloved daughter Robin Kay on May 2, 2005 from Gulfside Regional Hospice in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Mr. Carpenter served in the United States Navy (1944-1946). He was partners with his brother/friend Ralph Carpenter for 40 years in Carpenter Brothers Contrs. in Coopers Plains, NY. After his retirement he enjoyed golfing, traveling, living in Florida, and being with all his many friends. He hated snow and cold weather. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Painted Post, NY. Having been predeceased by his parents James and Lillian Carpenter, brother Ralph Carpenter and sister Eleanor Spencer he will be forever missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Arlene; daughters, Bonnie (and Brad) Wigsten of Trumbull, CT, Peggy (and Dale) Shaff of Charlotte, NC; and a son James Charles (and Pam) Carpenter of Lake Placid, NY. In addition, he had three grandchildren - Punky, Buttercup, and Dipstick, three great-grandchildren Christopher, Alexandra and Ryan, and many caring nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 7th from 5 7 PM with services immediately following with Reverend Jack Long officiating, at Phillips Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St. Corning, NY.
