Carl D. Meyers, age 71, of Addison passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. Carl was born August 22, 1945 in Cameron Mills, NY to Fredrick and Elsie (Reynolds) Meyers.
Carl served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home he became a mechanic and worked at Meyers Sunoco in Big Flats for over 40 years.
Carl was a carefree, upbeat and fun loving guy. Anyone who knew him would remember him with a larger than life smile and an unbuttoned shirt, sitting on his front porch with a Canadian LTD in his hand.
Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. He also loved the excitement of all the kids around his home, often spoiling them with ice cream. Carl was also quite the story teller and always ready to share his stories with family and friends.
A gambler at heart, Carl enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and many local casinos. More recently it is worth noting, that not a day would pass, when he didn’t make his daily trip to Crawford’s Store in Cameron Mills to play Quick Draw.
He is survived by six siblings: James Meyers of Addison, Fritz (Elaine) Meyers of Big Flats, Mickey (Virginia) Meyers of Big Flats, Bert (Rosie) Meyers of Elkland, Katie(Ken)Anderson of CA, Neva (Bob) Tosh of OH; sister in law: Norma Meyers of Addison ; several niece and nephews; special friend: Beulah Stewart of Addison.
Along with his parents he was predeceased by his siblings: Chuck Meyers, Burdette Meyers, Freda Brady, and Marie Cope.
