Biography

Dorothy M. Gullo, age 81, of Corning, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Steuben County Health Care Facility. She was born on November 9, 1930 in Lexington, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillie (Miller) Roland. She married Joseph J. Gullo on December 7, 1945 in Lexington, South Carolina. He predeceased her on January 28, 2008.

Dorothy was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church. She worked at Corning, Inc. and owned and operated Dorothy's Beauty Salon. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her return visits to South Carolina to visit her family. She had many local friends and family members whom she enjoyed visiting.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Paula Gullo of Painted Post; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Charles Sorge of Painted Post; son, Jeffery Gullo of Bath; grandchildren, Trevor (Colleen) Gullo, Kara Gullo, Eric Gullo, Charles (Heather) Sorge, Jr., Corrie Sorge, Mark Sorge, Brandi Gullo, and Nick Johnson; great-grandchildren, Destiny, Gage, Aidan, Tyler, Aiden, Lilly, and Chloe; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Minnie Haupt of Florida; brother-in-law, Tommy Kyzer of Lexington, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews in Corning and South Carolina. Dorothy was predeceased by her son, Ernest Gullo, sisters, Louise Gunther and Mae Kyzer, and brother, Ernest Roland.

Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter's Funeral Home, LLC, 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning on Sunday, January 15, 2012 from noon to 2:00pm. A prayer service will follow calling hours there at 2:00pm. The burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
