Robert G. Folmar, age 87, of Corning, NY Passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Corning Hospital. Mr. Folmar was born January 7, 1923 in Wellsboro, PA. He is the son of the late Harvey and the late Hattie (Davis) Folmar.


Robert graduated from C.F.A. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII from July 23, 1940 to June 27, 1945. Upon returning from the war, he married Anna M. Kilburn on October 27, 1945. Last October, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Robert retired from Corning Inc. as Dept. Head/Supervisor at Sullivan Park in 1982. Bob was a past member of the Corning Elks, V.F.W., and the Corning Moose. He also was a charter member of the Indian Hills Golf course and a past member of the Corning Country Club.

He is survived by his wife: Anna M.(Kilburn) Folmar; two daughters: Sandra (Bernard) Ketter of Horseheads, NY, Peggy Smith of Corning, NY; two sons: Robert L. (Cynthia) Folmar of Horseheads, NY, David Folmar of Campbell, NY; three sisters: Della Spart, Mayola Young, and Gertrude Burris; He also has nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his Siblings: Irene Bliss, Harriet Stickler, and Harvey Folmar.

Calling hours for Robert will be Tuesday, August 3 from 10 - Noon at Carpenter's Funeral Home, LLC, 14 East Pulteney Street, Corning, NY. Funeral services will be held immediately following at Bath National Cemetery.
